Calgary’s newest way to have fun combines three of life’s passions – art, wine and food.
For one price, customers are provided with all painting supplies; a glass of wine and instruction to complete a painting in just two hours. No painting experience is necessary and we clean up the mess.
This is NOT a class; it is a social event.
We (Loretta and Brenda) have been friends for over 20 years and always dreamed of building something together. We envisioned a ‘clubhouse’ that would be built on heart and serve to uplift individuals and the community as a whole.
Somehow the right timing or opportunity never presented itself until now. The minute we saw the ‘paint and sip’ idea, we knew we had found the business that would provide us with our clubhouse – a space offering a fun spin on self care; a place for creativity, connection and fun; and it could be profitable which meant we could give back. It was perfect!
For us, it’s as much about the heart as it is about the art.
How will our campaign funding be used? We purchased a commercial kitchen, and the funding will be used to pay off our loan. The kitchen was something we hadn’t planned for in our business or our budget. After a ton of research and a few all-nighters, it turns out that one cannot have a ‘paint and sip’ studio in Alberta without a liquor license and one cannot have a liquor license without a commercial kitchen.
You know the old saying ‘if you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen’. Well we don’t have a choice. As much as it’s never been our dream to operate a ‘restaurant’; it turns out that it is the only way to achieve our dream of having a ‘paint and sip’ studio. It crossed our minds to serve only coffee, tea, juices and such; but really, where’s the fun in that.
We need a dish washer, microwave, freezer, cooler, mixer and oven to start. The mixer will create fabulous doughs for flatbreads, muffins and more and the oven will bake the flatbreads, muffins and more as required by the Alberta Liquor Board.
Close your eyes for a minute. Now, imagine the fragrance of fresh baked scones or muffins or a prosciutto and arugula flatbread. Sounds yummy, right! Well, we won’t be able make them for you without the kitchen equipment.
If we don’t raise the money here, it means taking on more debt and that’s not the best route for a new business.

Anything else? Yes! Our campaign goal is ALL or nothing. We have to sell $7,500 of BoostR rewards by July 30 or we get $0 – and our supporters don’t get to receive the awesome Rewards they selected.
